 In 2002 Victoria Chamber of Commerce began its first annual business awards Gala. The award ceremony takes place once a year at the Fairmont Empress Crystal Ball Room. The event is to celebrate significant business achievements made by local business people in Victoria. Owner Mark Rice of Cook St. Village Wine Works was the recipient of the first ever, Young Entrepreneur Award.
The Award is given to a local businessperson under the age of 34 who has made notable contributions to the city of Victoria through charitable fund raising and community service ventures as well as practicing first-rate business practices and ethics.
